Oberlin got on the scoreboard first with a pair of goals in the opening minute and a half of action. Virginia Wesleyan responded with back-to-back goals of their own from Camryn Gavula and Helen Kennedy-Butler to knot the score at two all. The teams traded another goal back and forth, VWU's coming off the stick of Kennedy-Butler, before the Yeowomen pulled ahead.
Oberlin scored nine unanswered goals throughout the remainder of the first, second and into the third quarters taking a 12-3 lead over Virginia Wesleyan.
A goal by Natalie Dunn at the 12:38 mark of the third quarter disrupted the OC run but the Yeowomen added two more goals taking a ten-goal, 14-4 lead. Both teams scored two more goals before the end of the third quarter putting the score at 16-6 heading into the final 15 minute period. VWU two goals came form Michaela Elston and Kennedy-Butler.
Both squads added two more goals in the fourth quarter driving the final score up to 18-8. Scoring for VWU in the fourth quarter was Kennedy-Butler and Elston.
