MISSION:

It is the mission of the sports medicine staff to provide the highest quality care to the student-athletes of Virginia Wesleyan University. The sports medicine staff will work with student-athletes and their coaches to support the mission of the VWU Athletic Department enabling them to safely participate in NCAA intercollegiate athletics.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The sports medicine staff consists of certified athletic trainers, team physicians, and other medical professionals that all work towards a common goal of returning student-athletes from injury as quickly as possible, while keeping student-athletes safety in the forefront of any care provided. Student-athletes are ultimately responsible for their own health/well-being and need to use the sports medicine staff as a resource to maintain their overall health.

LOCATION:

The Gary Bonnewell Sports Medicine Center is located on the 1st floor of the Jane P. Batten Student Center. Park in the Batten Center parking lot, and enter the main entrance. Follow the hall straight ahead and past the gymnasium. Take the first hallway on the right, just past the fish tank, and the Gary Bonnewell Sports Medicine Center is the last room on the right.


GARY BONNEWELL SPORTS MEDICINE CENTER HOURS OF OPERATION

Every effort is made to assist the team physician and other treating medical professionals in ensuring athletes participate safely.  The Gary Bonnewell Sports Medicine Center is open daily the following times during fall and spring semesters:

Hours of Operation
Monday-Thursday: 
9 am-12 pm /1-2 pm
Friday: 10 am-2 pm
Saturday-Sunday: Scheduled practice and game coverage only

Rules & Regulations of the Gary Bonnewell Sports Medicine Center

  • All evaluations, treatment, and rehab sessions are by appointment only
  • All evaluations, treatments, and rehabs MUST be completed prior to 2 pm
  • We will be open 1 hour prior to every practice and 2 hours prior to every athletic event
  • We will be here approx. 30 minutes after every athletic event
  • Weekend hours will be determined based on game and practice schedules
  • Gary Bonnewell Sports Medicine Center hours are subject to change at any time based on sports medicine staff availability, sports season, and university breaks. We will try to post changes on the Gary Bonnewell Sports Medicine Center door. 

 

Interterm hours to be determined based on need.
