The Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team capped off a resurgent 2026 campaign with a pair of All-ODAC selections, as Reese Morgenthaler earned First Team All-Conference honors and Kenna Duplechin was named to the Second Team.
Morgenthaler continues to etch her name among the program's elite, collecting her second consecutive All-ODAC selection while becoming the Marlins' first First Team honoree since the 2016 season. The standout midfielder delivered a dominant year offensively, leading Virginia Wesleyan with 69 goals and 82 total points, while adding 13 assists. She also contributed across the field with 52 ground balls and a team-high 77 draw controls, showcasing her all-around impact.
Duplechin also turned in a stellar season to earn Second Team recognition. The sophomore tallied 38 goals and nine assists for 47 points, while leading the team with 55 ground balls and adding 57 draw controls. Her consistency on both ends of the field played a key role in the Marlins' success throughout the season.
As a team, Virginia Wesleyan showed significant progress in 2026, finishing with a 9-8 overall record and a 4-4 mark in ODAC play. The Marlins secured their first above-.500 season since 2015.
Offensively, the Marlins took a major step forward, scoring 205 goals this season compared to 188 a year ago. The Marlins also tightened up defensively, allowing just 167 goals after surrendering 192 last season. The balanced improvement on both sides of the ball translated into a more competitive and consistent squad throughout the spring.
The Marlins averaged 12.06 goals per game while holding opponents to under 10 goals per contest, and controlled key possession areas with advantages in draw controls (209-191) and caused turnovers (192-146).
With a strong core returning and momentum built from a breakthrough season, women's lacrosse continues to trend upward as it looks ahead to 2027.
