he Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team (8-6, 3-3 ODAC) delivered a dominant performance in a 21-0 victory over Randolph on Saturday afternoon at home in Virginia Beach. The Marlins controlled the game from the opening draw and maintained their intensity throughout all four quarters.
Reese Morgenthaler led the way with seven goals, spearheading an explosive offensive effort.
Creelyn Bastinelli and
Gianna Delavan each added four goals, while
Maddisen Selvage and
Jasmine Gorney contributed two apiece.
Kenna Duplechin and
Joy Ramsey also found the back of the net, showcasing Virginia Wesleyan's depth on the attacking end.
Daphne Myers facilitated the offense with multiple assists as the Marlins moved the ball efficiently.
Virginia Wesleyan came out firing in the first quarter, building a commanding 9-0 lead with a relentless attack and strong ball movement. The Marlins continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, taking a 12-0 advantage into halftime.
The momentum carried into the second half, where Virginia Wesleyan added four goals in the third quarter and closed the game with five more in the fourth. The Marlins remained aggressive offensively while maintaining control of possession.
Defensively, Virginia Wesleyan was just as impressive, holding Randolph scoreless and limiting opportunities throughout the contest in a complete team effort.
With the win, the Marlins even their conference record and will look to build on this performance as they continue ODAC play. Virginia Wesleyan returns to action on Saturday, April 18 at 3:00 PM on the road against Guilford College.
