Box Score ARLINGTON, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team fell 19-11 to the Saints of Marymount University on Saturday afternoon in Arlington, VA. The Marlins move to 0-2 on the season, while MU improves to 1-0.

The game was the first road game of the season for the Marlins and the season opener for Marymount.
INSIDE THE SCORE
The game began with the Marlins getting on the scoreboard first on a goal from Kayla Gush 22 seconds into the game. VWU followed just over a minute later taking a 2-0 lead after Avery Frangelli sent the ball into the net. The Saints countered the two goals with three in a row taking a 3-2 lead with 26:33 left in the first half. Frangelli put in back-to-back goals giving the Marlins a 4-3 lead by the 24-minute mark. Marymount went on a roll from there scoring eight goals in 17 minutes of action to lead 11-4 with seven minutes before the halftime horn. VWU managed to sneak two goals in the net before the horn sounded marking halftime. Gush scored one off an assist from Frangelli and Camryn Gavula found her first of the game on an unassisted shot.
Marymount came out of the break scoring three goals in the opening eight minutes going up by eight goals, 14-6. Senior Tori Manahan collected her first goal of the game in the 40th minute of play before the Saints added two more to lead 16-7. VWU's Natalie Dunn scored an unassisted goal in a man-down situation with 13:14 left in play but Marymount again answered with a pair of goals taking a 10-goal lead, 18-8, and earning a running clock. The Marlins answered the Saints with three consecutive goals, one each from Manahan, Melissa Runo, and Gush, closing the gap to seven goals, 18-11, with 3:31 left. Marymount got the final goal in with three seconds remaining on the clock putting the final score at 19-11.
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN LEADERS
The Marlins were led by Avery Frangelli and Kayla Gush with three goals each. Tori Manahan added two while Melissa Runo, Camryn Gavula, and Natalie Dunn each added one. Jordan Moilanen (L: 0-2) picked up the loss in net giving up nine goals while also making 10 saves on 19 shots faced. Mike Hairston played a half in net and made eight saves on 18 shots while giving up 10 goals.
MARYMOUNT LEADERS
The Saints had five athletes record three goals in the contest and saw nine different players score at least one.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game came in the 14-minute window of the first half when Marymount went on an 8-0 run taking an 11-4 lead that was too great to overcome.
