Box Score Quakers Race to 20-10 Victory over Marlins
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Virginia Wesleyan College women's lacrosse team kept the score within a goal for most of the first half, but could not keep up with Guilford's offensive assault as the Marlins fell 20-10.
Guilford got on the board first with a goal 36 seconds in off the stick of Demming Carlow.
The Marlins answered a little over a minute later as Megan Schallock and Becca Winslow scored back-to-back goals to give VWC an early 2-1 lead.
Guilford and VWC traded goals making the score 3-2. The Quakers, however went on an 8-1 run to close the half with Carter Macleod and Amanda Dionne scoring two goals apiece.
The Marlins found the back of the net six times in the second half with Winslow and Schallock scoring twice, but Guilford's offense matched its 10 first-half goals with 10 more in the second half to secure the win.
Dionne led the way for the Quakers (6-5/4-0) with six goals. Carlow scored five times to go along with four assists. Marina Bailey added four goals.
Schallock and Winslow each scored three goals for the Marlins with Schallock also posting two assists.
Virginia Wesleyan (2-9/1-3) returns home for an ODAC tilt with Bridgewater College (6-6/1-3) Wednesday at 6 p.m.
