Quick Scoring Outburst Leads Randolph-Macon Past Marlins

ASHLAND, Va. -- The Randolph-Macon College women's lacrosse team scored 13 first-half goals to defeat Virginia Wesleyan 23-5 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Wednesday afternoon.

Randolph-Macon scored two early goals before Megan Schallock cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 29 minute mark. The Yellow Jackets ran off seven-straight goals over the next 10 minutes to take a 9-1 lead.

Ashley Winslow tallied another goal for the Marlins, but a four-goal spurt put the home team up 13-2 at halftime.

Schallock scored all three of the Marlins' goals in the second half. She finished with four goals and nine draw controls. Madison Carroll and Shannon Ruffalo each corralled four ground balls.

Katie Russo and Susie Snee had three goals each for Randolph-Macon (9-4/6-0) while adding four ground balls each.

Virginia Wesleyan (2-12/1-6) hosts Roanoke College (7-8/5-3) Saturday at 2 p.m.
