Box Score Albright Pulls Away from Marlins in Non-Conference Tilt
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan College women's lacrosse team was tied at five with Albright College early in the first half, but a surge by the Lions netted the visitors a 22-11 victory in non-conference action Tuesday night.
The first half went back and forth with each team racing up the field and scoring each time they won a draw control. At halftime the score was 15-8 in favor of Albright while the Lions also held a 15-9 edge in draw controls.
Albright started the scoring with three goals in the first three minutes as Amanda Smith, Erin Farrell, and Mariah Cullen found the back of the cage.
The Marlins answered on a Marie Lerch goal coming off a Becca Winslow assist, but Albright responded off the next draw with a tally by Cullen.
Trailing 4-1, Virginia Wesleyan rallied to tie the contest on a pair of goals from Megan Schallock and another tally by Winslow.
Cullen scored again to make it 5-4 Albright with 22:39 to go in the first, but Abby Shope scored on a free position shot to knot the score once again at 20:42. It would be the final tie of the game as Albright scored the next eight goals in the contest, a spurt that spanned 12 minutes.

Smith finished with seven goals and an assist for Albright (4-2) while Cullen added six goals and a helper.
