Box Score

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Sophomore Amari Agee (Mason, Ohio/William Mason) put Virginia Wesleyan College's women's lacrosse Marlins on the scoreboard with 20:09 remaining to be played in the first half at Washington and Lee University.

It was a goal that cut W&L's lead to 2-1, but that was as close as it would get the rest of the way.

The host Generals scored four of the next five goals to lead 6-2 at halftime en route to a 14-4 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory on Saturday.

Virginia Wesleyan (1-5, 1-1) cut the spread to 6-3 to start the second half on a goal by sophomore Kelly Jacobson (Nokesville/Brentsville). But, Washington and Lee (3-5, 3-1) scored the next four goals to pull out to a 10-3 lead with 14:54 remaining to be played.

Agee and Jacobson scored two goals each for Virginia Wesleyan.  Taylor Harding (Norfolk/Norfolk Collegiate) recorded two assists and Jacobson added one.

Margaret Klein (North Andover, Mass./Brooks) led the Generals with four goals. Katie Hagen (West Chester, Pa./Notre Dame) tallied three.

The Generals outshot the Marlins 32-14 and posted a 27-17 advantage in ground balls.  They also led in draw control wins, 14-6.  Jacobson and Agee led VWC with four ground balls each.

Rookie goalie Madison Carroll (Leonardtown, Md./Leonoardtown) produced nine saves for VWC. Cara Mulligan (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) had three in 54 minutes for W&L and Sally Curtiss (Morristown, N.J./Madison) added two saves in six minutes.
