Marlins Sweep Eagles on Senior Day

The Virginia Wesleyan University men's volleyball team (19-8, 8-6 ODAC) swept conference opponent Bridgewater 3-0, winning 25-11, 25-19, and 25-14.

Before the start of the match, the Virginia Wesleyan University men's volleyball program honored its four-member senior class: James Cromwell-Young, Siah Hall, Ross Echea, and Grant Younie.

JaMarhe Wills led the offense as he tallied 12 kills, with a .348 hitting percentage, seven digs, two service aces, and one block assist. Siah Hall recorded six kills, four assists, four service aces, one solo block, and seven digs. James Cromwell-Young registered six kills, with a .600 hitting percentage, one solo block, and three block assists.

Senior Grant Younie had seven kills with a .417 hitting percentage and four digs, and teammate Ross Echea tallied two kills and four block assists.

After the senior day ceremony before the match, the Marlins offense came out on fire jumping out to an 11-3 lead early in the set. However, the Eagles clawed back to bring the score to 13-9, but Virginia Wesleyan went on a 12-2 run to win the first set 25-11.

VWU kept up the pressure and built a solid 15-4 lead midway through the second set. Bridgewater rallied and went on a 14-7 run to cut the lead to 22-18, but the Marlins outscored the Eagles 3-1 the rest of the set to seal the 25-19 set two win.

In the third set, Virginia Wesleyan rallied to a 10-1 lead, but the Eagles countered with an 8-5 run to bring the score to 15-9. However, the Marlins' offense erupted, going on a 9-2 run to take a 24-11 lead. Bridgewater fought back, scoring the next three points, but the Marlins went on to win the set 25-14.
