The Virginia Wesleyan University men's volleyball team (22-10, 9-7 ODAC) was defeated by No. 17 Randolph-Macon, losing 25-20, 25-14, and 25-17.
The Marlins offense was led by
JaMarhe Wills with 10 kills, two digs, and one block assist.
James Cromwell-Young had five kills with a .444 hitting percentage, and three solo blocks.
Grant Younie had five kills and five digs.
To begin the match, the Yellow Jackets found themselves up 8-5 early in the set, but the Marlins countered with a 3-1 run to cut the score to 9-8. However, RMC rallied, outscoring the Marlins 10-6 to take a 19-14 lead midway through the set. Virginia Wesleyan was unable to mount a comeback and lost set one 25-20.
In the second set, the Yellow Jackets built a 12-7 lead early in the set. The two teams traded points to bring the score to 15-11, but RMC went on a 3-0 run to increase their lead to 18-11. Randolph-Macon finished the set with a 6-1 run to win set two 25-14.
In the third set, the Marlins fought hard and had the set tied at 12-12. However, the Yellow Jackets rallied and outscored VWU 13-5 to win set three 25-17.
