The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team has been selected second in the 2025 ODAC Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's 13 head coaches. The Marlins earned 129 points, just behind Washington & Lee, who topped the poll with 144. Lynchburg (125) and Bridgewater (101) round out the top four.
VWU comes off a strong 2024 season, finishing 10-6-3 overall and 8-2 in ODAC play. The Marlins outscored opponents 38–20, averaging two goals per game while limiting teams to just over one goal per match. With 303 total shots compared to 221 by opponents, Virginia Wesleyan showcased a consistent attacking edge throughout the season.
Returning players Shyenne Diaz, Emma Nguyen, and goalkeeper Allie Greco will be central to the Marlins' 2025 campaign. Diaz led the team offensively with six goals and two assists, while Nguyen added five goals and one assist, both delivering key game-winners. In goal, Greco posted a 0.96 goals-against average, recording seven wins and multiple shutouts to anchor the defense. With a balanced attack and a strong defensive backbone, the Marlins enter the season poised for another competitive run.
