The Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team (1-5) fell to Wooster College 14-7.
Camryn Gavula tallied three assists and caused one turnover,
Shannon DeMarinis scored two goals, one assist, and one ground ball, and
Mikayla Szudera recorded two goals and one assist.
The Fighting Scots got on the board early, but the Marlins responded with a goal from
Shannon DeMarinis assisted by
Natalie Dunn tying the game at 1-1. Woosters scored two goals before
Michaela Elston scored off a feed from
Mikayla Szudera to cut the visitors' lead to 3-2. The Marlins scored a goal just before the end of the quarter as
Madison Pfister scored from
Camryn Gavula to end quarter one down 5-3.
Wooster outscored Virginia Wesleyan 5-1 with Szudera scoring on an assist from
Shannon DeMarinis to be down 10-4 at halftime.
The Fighting Scots added two to their lead before
Helen Kennedy-Butler scored her first goal of the game, bringing the score to 12-5.
The Marlins outscored Wooster 2-1 in the final quarter with goals from
Shannon DeMarinis and
Mikayla Szudera both off passes from
Camryn Gavula.
Brittneyann Hoover took the loss in net, making 13 saves after 60 minutes of play.
