VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team fell to the Hornets of Shenandoah University 24-4 on Saturday afternoon in Winchester, VA.

GAME RECAP
The Hornets started things off with a pair of goals in the opening two minutes. After nearly five minutes of action, the Marlins scored their first goal as Michaela Elston connected with the back of the net. Shenandoah responded with five goals taking a 7-1 lead into the second quarter.
Both teams scored early in the second quarter with VWU's goal coming from Elston, her second goal of the game, before the Hornets went on a three goal run putting the score at 11-2. Shannon DeMarinis scored on a man up opportunity off a Helen Kennedy-Butler assist. Shenandoah scored five more goals to close out the half leading 16-3 at the break.
Three total goals were scored in the third quarter one which came off the stick of Camryn Gavula for the Marlins third goal of the game.
Shenandoah added six more goals in the fourth quarter putting the final score at 24-4.

The women's lacrosse team is back in action on Wednesday, April 27th, when they head up I-64 to Ashland, VA a midweek ODAC pairing against the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College. First draw is set for 7 PM.
