The Marlins started things off with a goal three minutes into the game as Natalie Dunn connected with the back of the net, but the Panthers closed out the remainder of the first quarter with three unanswered goals to lead 3-1 heading into the second.
VWU evened the score at three all with a pair of goals, one each from Breanna Sviland and Sam Hill. Ferrum took the 4-3 lead on a goal at the 8:50 mark, but Virginia Wesleyan closed out the first half of action with five unanswered goals taking an 8-4 lead into the break. Scoring for VWU was Natalie Dunn and Mikayla Szudera with two goals each with the fifth coming from Helen Kennedy-Butler.
Szudera and Dunn picked right back up where they left off opening the third quarter with a goal each pushing the score up to 10-4. Ferrum pulled within four after closing the third quarter with a pair of goals that put the score at 10-6.
Michaela Elston scored the lead off goal of the fourth quarter off pass from Mikayla Callahan. Ferrum scored a pair of back-to-back goals pulling within three, 11-8. With just over two minutes left, Szudera scored off a Callahan pass for the last Marlin goal of the game, while Ferrum closed of the game with the last goal at 1:16 putting the final score at 12-9 in the Marlins favor.

The women's lacrosse team is back in action on Wednesday, April 20th, when they return to Birdsong Field in Virginia Beach, VA, when they host the Eagles of Bridgewater College. First draw is set for 4 PM.
