Academic Accomplishments: Academic Dean's scholarship recipient

Before VWC: Helped Powhatan to advance to its first state championship appearance in 2013… Posted a season-best 5K time of 18:52 in the state championship meet… 4x800 relay team advanced to regionals as a senior in indoor track… 4x800 relay and 4x400 relay advanced to regionals as a senior in outdoor track… Participated in Relay for Life… Participated in the Virginia High School League Leadership Conference.

Personal: Son of Tonya Hylton-Sylvia and Paul Sylvia… Mom attended the University of Mary Washington and Southern College of Optometry, dad attended J. Sargent Reynolds Community College… Has two sisters, Megan and Kaitlin, the latter a student at Christopher Newport University.

  • My favorite aspect of being an athlete is: "the competition, to strive to be your best overall. Setting a personal record during a meet is the best feeling to me"
  • The part of my game I've received the most is: "my form. OVer the past year that I've been running, that was the sloppiest. But, I watched others and got comfortable with relaxing my arms and shoulders, down to my legs, and it definitely improved my times as well"
  • My personal athletic goal at VWC is: "to break a 17 minute 5K, a five minute mile, and to run below a two minute 800 meter race"
  • If I could spend one day with a famous person from any time period it would be: "King Arthur, and become a knight of the round table"
