Marlins Sweep Conference Opponent EMU

The Virginia Wesleyan University men's volleyball team (17-4, 6-3 ODAC) defeated conference opponent EMU 3-0, winning 25-16, 25-15, and 25-21.

JaMarhe Wills led the team with 14 kills, with a .600 hitting percentage, 13 digs, one assist, one service ace, and two block assists. Grant Younie had 12 kills, with a .304 hitting percentage, six digs, one assist, and two block assists. Ajaye Davis led the team with 32 assists, two kills, and two digs.

Eastern Mennonite jumped out to a 4-2 lead, but the Marlins went on a 5-2 run to take a 7-6 lead. The Royals came back and went on a 5-2 rally to go ahead 11-9. However, the Virginia Wesleyan went on a 9-1 run to take an 18-12 lead. EMU scored back-to-back points, but went on a 7-2 run to take set one 25-16.

The Royals came out in the second set and built a 9-7 lead, but VWU rallied and went on a 9-1 run to take a 16-10 lead. The Royals outscored the Marlins 4-3 to bring the score to 18-14, but Virginia Wesleyan rallied and went on a 7-1 run to win set two 25-15.

In the third set, the Marlins jumped out to a 6-2 lead, but the Royals responded and outscored VWU 5-3 to bring the score to 9-7. The two teams traded points, but EMU was about to chip away at the Marlins lead and was able to tie the set at 20-20. However, Virginia Wesleyan closed out the set going on a 5-1 run to win 25-21.
