Joshua Jones led the offense, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBI, and two walks. Nathan Bryant finished 2-for-3 with one run scored, one RBI, and a walk, while Gino Meienschein added a 2-for-4 performance with two runs scored and a walk. James Tassone also contributed two hits and two RBI, and Bryce Folmar scored twice with a double and an RBI.
On the mound, Chase Depalma started and pitched 4.0 innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out two. Will Turner earned the win in relief, tossing 3.1 strong innings and allowing just one hit with no runs. Zach Miller closed out the final 1.2 innings, giving up one hit and striking out one to secure the victory.
Brockport struck first in the top of the opening inning, but the Marlins answered immediately in the bottom half. Jones delivered an RBI single to center field to plate Nick Valentin and tie the game at 1-1.
The Golden Eagles added two runs in the second and another in the fourth to build a 4-1 advantage. A solo home run in the fifth extended Brockport's lead to 5-1.
Virginia Wesleyan responded in a big way in the bottom of the fifth. Gino Meienschein started the rally with a single, and after a hit-by-pitch and walk loaded the bases, Joshua Jones and Nathan Bryant each drew RBI walks to cut into the deficit. Darius Walston followed with a sacrifice fly, and Bryce Folmar ripped a double down the left field line to drive in another run and tie the game.
James Tassone then singled to give the Marlins the lead, and Nick Valentin lifted a sacrifice fly to extend it. Gino Meienschein and Marcell Whitfield added RBI singles later in the inning, and Israel Dozier capped the eight-run frame with an RBI single to make it 9-5.
The Marlins added two more insurance runs in the eighth inning. After Joshua Jones reached base and advanced on a wild pitch and an error, James Tassone delivered an RBI single to push the lead to 11-5.
From there, Zach Miller shut the door in the ninth, and Virginia Wesleyan turned a game-ending double play to secure the 11-5 victory.
