Virginia Wesleyan baseball standout Gino Meienschein added another postseason accolade to his impressive junior campaign after being named Second Team All-Region VI by D3baseball.com.
The Marlins' first baseman was recognized among the top players in Region VI after putting together one of the most productive offensive seasons in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
Meienschein started all 39 games for Virginia Wesleyan and led the Marlins with a .409 batting average while totaling 56 hits, 40 runs scored, 28 RBI, and a .534 on-base percentage. He added eight doubles, one triple, four home runs, and a .569 slugging percentage during the 2026 season.
A consistent presence in the middle of the lineup, Meienschein reached base safely in all but one game this season and finished with 37 walks and hit-by-pitches combined against just 10 strikeouts in 137 at-bats. He also showcased his versatility on the basepaths with 11 stolen bases in 13 attempts.
Defensively, Meienschein anchored the Marlins at first base with a .989 fielding percentage, recording 263 putouts and helping turn 29 double plays as a team throughout the year.
Meienschein was one of 14 players selected to the D3baseball.com All-Region VI Second Team and one of the top first basemen recognized across the region. Players were nominated for the award by Sports Information Directors from institutions throughout Region VI.
