The Virginia Wesleyan University women's swimming team placed sixth out of ten at the 2026 ODAC Championship Meet, totalling 184 points. The Marlins broke six school records over the week, including the 200 backstroke, 400 freestyle relay, 100 breaststroke, 200 medley relay, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 200 freestyle relay, and the 50 freestyle.
Virginia Wesleyan recorded multiple finishes in the 50-yard freestyle.
Emery Garza placed ninth in the finals with a time of 24.44 to break the VWU school record, while Lana Macchi finished 13th in 24.85. In the preliminary round,
Sarah Czapp placed 24th in 26.05, and
Ella Boal finished 29th with a time of 29.50.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Virginia Wesleyan finished fifth as Lana Macchi,
Suzanna Fernandez,
Sarah Czapp, and
Emery Garza combined for a time of 1:40.04 to reset their own school record.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Virginia Wesleyan had two swimmers compete at the ODAC Championships.
Emery Garza earned a 10th-place finish, posting a final time of 1:00.94, while
Suzanna Fernandez followed with a 15th-place finish in 1:05.38.
Garza had a great meet as she also broke the record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:12.93.
Virginia Wesleyan opened the championships in the 800-yard freestyle relay, where the Marlins' team of

Ella Boal, and
Suzanna Fernandez placed seventh with a final time of 8:38.38.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Lana Macchi earned an 11th-place finish in the finals with a time of 1:08.37 to break the school record.

Sarah Czapp, and
Emery Garza broke the school record in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:42.08.
During the 500-yard freestyle,
Suzanna Fernandez placed 22nd with a time of 5:47.53, while
Lora Young followed closely in 23rd, touching the wall in 5:49.02.
In the 200-yard individual medley,
Erin Beaudry finished 23rd overall with a final time of 2:23.07.
