Marlins Swimming Take Home 83-58 Win against Chowan

The Virginia Wesleyan women opened the meet with a victory in the 200-meter medley relay, as Suzanna Fernandez, Lana Macchi, Lora Young, and Emery Garza combined for a first-place finish in 2:12.85.

In the 400-meter freestyle, Erin Beaudry placed second with a time of 5:22.77. The Marlins continued to impress in the 100-meter freestyle, where Emery Garza won the event in 1:02.97, Lora Young finished third in 1:11.06, and Ella Boal placed fourth with a time of 1:14.26.

Suzanna Fernandez earned a second-place finish in the 50-meter backstroke, touching in 35.11. Lana Macchi captured first place in the 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 36.34, while Sarah Czapp finished third in 43.19.

Lora Young claimed another event win for Virginia Wesleyan in the 100-meter butterfly, finishing first with a time of 1:17.18. Erin Beaudry followed with a second-place showing in the 200-meter freestyle at 2:29.71.

The Marlins dominated the 50-meter freestyle, sweeping the top three spots as Emery Garza won in 28.59, Lana Macchi placed second in 29.22, and Sarah Czapp finished third in 30.69. Suzanna Fernandez also competed in the finals and placed seventh in 31.61, while Ella Boal finished ninth in 34.51.

In the 100-meter backstroke, Fernandez recorded another second-place result with a time of 1:21.98. Erin Beaudry placed second in the 50-meter butterfly, touching in 34.57, while Boal added a fourth-place finish at 38.97.

Virginia Wesleyan closed the individual events with a sweep of the top two spots in the 100-meter individual medley, as Emery Garza won in 1:12.72 and Lora Young followed in second at 1:19.86. The meet concluded with the Marlins' 200-meter freestyle relay team of Lana Macchi, Sarah Czapp, Ella Boal, and Erin Beaudry placing second in 2:04.40.
