The Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team put together a strong showing over two days of competition, earning multiple wins in both doubles and singles play at the CNU Invite.
Day One -
VWU opened the weekend with an impressive performance against CNU. In doubles, the duo of Platts/Muller secured a 6-4 win over Wallace/Ceric, while Choudhary/Oster followed with a 6-3 victory over Onoff/Lee. The pair of Vlad/ter Schiphorst battled hard but fell 6-4 to Seretis/Halvorsen.
The Marlins carried their momentum into singles action. Platts dominated his match with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Wallace, and Choudhary held off Ceric in a close 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) contest. Muller delivered another point for VWU with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Seretis, while Oster cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Onoff. Vlad put up a fight but came up short against Russell, falling 6-3, 7-5.
Day Two -
Virginia Wesleyan stayed hot on day two, continuing their success. In doubles, Platts/Muller once again came through with a 6-4 win over Gipner/Lehman, and Oster/Aerts secured a tight 7-6 (7-5) victory over Kozhoev/Meehan. Vlad/ter Schiphorst were edged 6-3 by Campbell/Manchala.
VWU dominated singles play with four wins. Vlad battled through a three-set thriller to top Lehman 6-4, 0-6, 10-8. Platts stayed perfect on the weekend with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Campbell, while Choudhary and Muller each posted 7-5, 6-3 wins over Gipner and Manchala, respectively. Gitormirski fell 6-3, 7-6 (6) to Kozhoev, and Oster dropped a close match to Meehan, 7-5, 3-6, 10-6.
