Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis battled throughout the afternoon but ultimately fell 7-0 to North Carlina Wesleyan.
In doubles play, the Marlins found success at the No. 3 position. Frieso ter Schiphorst and Veikko Sivonen teamed up for a strong outing, earning a 6-4 victory and providing Virginia Wesleyan with its lone win of the day. At No. 1 doubles, Ayaan Choudhary and Jed Platts faced a tough pairing and fell 6-2, while Sebastien Muller and Hovo Madanyan also dropped a 6-2 decision at the No. 2 spot.
Singles action saw the Marlins continue to battle against a deep NCWU lineup. At No. 1 singles, Choudhary competed against a strong opponent, falling in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. Platts followed at No. 2 singles, working through long rallies but coming up short 6-1, 6-2.
At the No. 3 position, Sivonen fought to stay in points and showed flashes of strong play before falling 6-1, 6-4. Muller took on the No. 4 singles match, battling throughout but ultimately dropping a 6-2, 6-2 decision.
In the bottom half of the lineup, Natan Aerts competed at No. 5 singles and continued to grind through points despite a 6-2, 6-0 loss. Josh Buckland rounded out the lineup at No. 6 singles, showing persistence and effort in a 6-2, 6-2 match.
