The Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team (8-7, 4-4 ODAC) was defeated by No. 19 Roanoke 20-1.
Gianna Delevan scored the Marlins' lone goal, and
Melissa Dolt played 60 minutes in net, allowed 20 goals, and made six saves.
Roanoke wasted no time getting on the board scoring just under a minute into the game at 14:07 in the first period. Roanoke kept up the pressure and outscored the Marlins 8-0 heading into the second quarter.
The Maroons added six more goals in the second quarter to lead 14-0 at the break.
After halftime, Roanoke added a quick goal to lead 15-0. However, roughly two minutes later
Gianna Delevan scored a goal to cut the lead to 15-1. Roanoke scored one more goal in the third quarter and added four more in the fourth quarter to seal the 20-1 win over VWU.
