The Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team (4-5, 0-3 ODAC) was defeated by conference opponent Shenandoah 8-2.
John Bastiaans led the offense going 2-for-3 with a solo home run,
Edgar Harwood was 1-for-4 with a solo home run, and
Nick Beatty pitched well pitching 3.0 innings, allowed one hit, one earned run, had two strikeouts.
Shenandoah took an early lead in the first inning giving Shenandoah a 2-0 lead.
Virginia Wesleyan responded in the third inning with back-to-back home runs.
Edgar Harwood hit an inside-the-park home run, followed by a long shot down the left-field line by
John Bastiaans, bringing the game to a 2-2 tie.
However, Shenandoah quickly regained control in the bottom of the third. With Shenandoah scoring five runs on four hits including a three-run home run that extended Shenandoah's lead to 7-2.
Shenandoah added one more insurance run in the sixth inning, to make it 8-2. Despite a late rally attempt by Virginia Wesleyan, Shenandoah's pitching held strong, securing the 8-2 victory.
