The Virginia Wesleyan University men's volleyball team (8-4, 1-2 ODAC) was defeated by EMU 3-0, 20-25, 21-25, and 18-25.
Matthew Sheppard led the team with 12 kills, six digs, one service ace, and three block assists, and teammate
JaMarhe Wills had 10 kills, six digs, one block assist, and one service ace.
The first set was a close contest with both teams tied at 8-8. However, the Royals went on a 5-2 run to lead 13-10. The Marlins scored back-to-back points, but EMU went on a 5-1 run to lead 18-13. Virginia Wesleyan came back with a 5-3 run to bring the score to 21-18, but EMU went on to win 25-20.
The Royals came out strong in the second set and went up 11-4, but the Marlins chipped away at the visitor's lead and brought the score to 19-18. However, Eastern Mennonite outscored the Marlins 6-3 the rest of the set to win 25-21.
In the third set, the Royals jumped out to a 5-2 lead. The two teams traded points until, EMU went on a 4-1 run to lead 18-13. The Marlins had a late surge the EMU's lead was too great and they won the third set 25-18.
