The Virginia Wesleyan University men's swimming team turned in a strong performance in their double dual meet against St. Mary's College of Maryland and Randolph College. Losing the Randolph by a score of 115-75 and falling to St. Mary's (Md.) by a score of 147-45.
The Marlins opened the meet with a runner-up finish in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of 
Mason Pifer, 
Cael Long, 
Tommy Saeger, and 
Brandon Temple touched the wall in 1:42.86. The B relay of 
Camden Holmes, 
Gavin Wehr, 
Jacen Fletter, and Brayden Canterberry earned a sixth-place finish in 2:00.85.
In distance events, 
Matthew Thomas turned in a gritty performance in the 1650-yard freestyle, finishing fourth with a time of 19:04.72.
In the 200-yard freestyle, 
Camden Holmes swam a 2:06.24, followed closely by 
Logan Schohn in 2:06.45 and 
Jacen Fletter in 2:18.36.
The sprint events again showcased Marlin speed, led by 
Brandon Temple's second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.19. He was joined by 
Gavin Wehr, who clocked a 24.02, 
Reilly Shaffer at 24.19, and Brayden Canterberry at 25.67.
One of the day's top performances came from senior 
Cael Long, who won the 200-yard butterfly in commanding fashion with a time of 2:03.08, finishing over five seconds ahead of the next swimmer.
In the 100-yard freestyle, 
Matthew Thomas took fourth in 52.04, followed by Shaffer in 53.64, Canterberry in 57.82, and Fletter in 1:00.37.
In the 200-yard backstroke, 
Mason Pifer posted a time of 2:14.25 to earn third place, while 
Camden Holmes followed closely with a 2:26.47.
Distance swimmers again impressed in the 500-yard freestyle, where 
Tommy Saeger finished third in 5:21.56 and 
Logan Schohn placed just behind him in 5:35.56.
The Marlins closed out the meet with two strong efforts in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The A relay team of Long, Pifer, Temple, and Saeger earned third place with a time of 1:33.15, while the B team of Shaffer, Wehr, Thomas, and Schohn finished fifth at 1:39.69.
