The Virginia Wesleyan University men's swimming team had a strong showing against Chowan despite the 90-64 loss.
The Virginia Wesleyan men began the meet with strong relay performances in the 200-meter medley relay, as the "A" team of Mason Pifer, Cael Long, Tommy Saeger, and Reilly Shaffer placed second with a time of 1:54.74. The "B" relay of Camden Holmes, Brayden Canterburry, Gavin Wehr, and Logan Schohn followed in third at 2:11.58.
In the 400-meter freestyle, Camden Holmes earned a second-place finish in 5:01.74, while Brayden Canterburry placed third with a time of 5:44.83. Tommy Saeger added a second-place finish in the 100-meter freestyle, touching in 59.02.
Gavin Wehr placed second in the 50-meter backstroke with a time of 32.92, and Mason Pifer followed with a second-place showing in the 50-meter breaststroke at 35.75. Virginia Wesleyan picked up a pair of event wins in the butterfly races, as Cael Long won the 100-meter butterfly in 59.03, and later claimed first place in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:11.63. Brayden Canterburry placed third in the 100-meter butterfly at 1:22.71.
The Marlins continued to score points in the 200-meter freestyle, with Camden Holmes finishing second in 2:19.53 and Logan Schohn placing third in 2:20.41. In the 50-meter freestyle, Mason Pifer finished third in 26.62, Reilly Shaffer placed fourth in 26.92, and Schohn recorded a seventh-place time of 29.57.
Tommy Saeger earned another second-place finish in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 27.93, while Reilly Shaffer placed fourth at 30.03 and Gavin Wehr finished sixth in 32.27.
To close the meet, the Virginia Wesleyan men recorded a pair of relay finishes in the 200-meter freestyle relay. The "A" team of Cael Long, Reilly Shaffer, Mason Pifer, and Tommy Saeger placed second in 1:41.88, while the "B" relay of Brayden Canterburry, Camden Holmes, Logan Schohn, and Gavin Wehr finished third in 1:54.64.
