The Virginia Wesleyan men's swimming team had a strong showing at Chowan with first place finishes by

Tommy Saeger.
Mason Pifer,
Cael Long,
Tommy Saeger, and
Reilly Shaffer earned third in the 200 Meter Medley Relay with a time of 1:55.96. In the 400 Meter Freestyle Relay,
Mason Pifer,
Matthew Thomas,
Tommy Saeger, and
Cael Long captured a time of 3:55.48, finishing in second place.
Cael Long topped the 100 Meter Butterfly with a time of 58.97. He also won the 200 Meter Individual Medley with a time of 2:19.67.
Tommy Saeger won the 50 Meter Butterfly with a time of 27.65 in a closely contested race; and he finished third in the 100 Meter Backstroke with a time of 1:05.50.
Mason Pifer claimed second in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 27.22. Pifer earned third in the 50 Meter Breaststroke with a time of 37.03.
Matthew Thomas had a strong showing in the 50 Meter Backstroke, falling just short of first place with a time of 29.87. In the 200 Meter Freestyle, Thomas came in third with a time of 2:15.66. He also finished third in the 400 Meter Freestyle with a time of 4:41.60.
Jacen Fletter finished fourth in the 100 Meter Freestyle with a time of 1:05.19. He came in sixth in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 29.61. In the 50 Meter Butterfly, he finished fifth with a time of 31.57.
Reilly Shaffer came in third in all three of his individual races. In the 100 Meter Freestyle, his time was 1:02.54; in the 50 Meter Freestyle, his time was 27.91; and in the 200 Meter Breaststroke, his time was 1:21.61.
Logan Schohn came in fourth in both the 400 and 200 Meter Freestyle with times of 4:58.91 and 2:25.54 respectively. In the 100 Meter Backstroke he was fifth with a time of 1:22.13.
The men will return to competition next Saturday, February 1 in a dual meet against Randolph-Macon College.
