Women's Swimming Wins Dual Meet Against Chowan and Gallaudet

The Virginia Wesleyan women's swim team (4-1) defeated Chowan and Gallaudet in a dual meet.

The Marlins won first and second place in the 200 Medley Relay with times of 1:58:15 and 2:05:44. The first relay team was composed of Emery Garza, Abigail Carlson, Audrey Roberts, and Lauren Hendricks, while team two included Suzanna Fernandez, MariKlaire Morris Larkin, Erin Beaudry, and Sarah Verbeck

Virginia Wesleyan also dominated the 200 Freestyle Relay, once again taking first and second. The first place team, composed of Abigail Carlson, Mia Battistic, Suzanna Fernandez, and Sarah Czapp, earned a time of 1:49:37; the second place team of Sarah Verbeck, MariKlaire Morris Larkin, Ally Peck, and Lora Young recorded a 1:54:46 time. 

Emery Garza, triumphed in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:01:84 to break her own record; she also won the 100 Individual Medley with a time of 1:05:12.

Lora Young won first place in the 1000 Freestyle by a time of 12:17:59; she also won the 50 Butterfly by a time of 29:39. Young took second place in the 100 Butterfly event with a 1:06:31 time. 

Lauren Hendricks, won both the 200 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle by times of 2:05:67 and 56:25 respectively. She also took third place in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:06:41.

Ally Peck earned a second place finish in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 12:32:40 and came in third in the 100 Butterfly with a 31:52 time. 

Audrey Roberts came out on top the 50 Freestyle by a time of 26:69; she took second in the 50 Butterfly race by a time of 30:25. Roberts also recorded a second place finish in the 100 Individual Medley by a time of 1:09:07.

MariKlaire Morris Larkin won the 100 Breaststroke by a time of 1:15:91; she finished third in the 100 Individual Medley by a time of 1:09:88. 

Abigail Carlson took first place in the 50 Breaststroke by a time of 33:77. 

Suzanna Fernandez finished first in the 50 Backstroke race with a time of 31:43. 

Erin Beaudry took second place in the 50 Breaststroke, the 100 Backstroke, and the 500 Freestyle by times of 35:01, 1:09:98, and 6:04:27 respectively. 

Mia Battistic finished third in both the 200 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle with times of 2:11:79 and 1:00:72 respectively. She earned second in the 50 Freestyle race with a 27:32 time. 

Sarah Verbeck took second in the 100 Breaststroke by a time of 1:25:85. 

The Marlins finished with a score of 192-52 against Gallaudet and 172-42 against Chowan. Next, the women will compete at the Yellow Jacket Invitational beginning Friday, November 22nd.
