Women’s Tennis Finishes Regular Season with 9-0 Win Over Hollins

Box Score The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team finished their regular season with a 9-0 win over Hollins, at home.

Alexa Brewster and Shannon Lewes sped to an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. Christine Zalameda and Grace McGhee rallied to win 8-3 at No. 2, while Sophia Bibbo and Kristina Abrams won 8-2 in their first match playing together at No. 3.

Alexa Brewster finished the day without losing a single game, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 against Millie Shaw. Zalameda and Lewes won 6-0, and 6-1 at No. 2, and No. 3, respectively. At No. 6 Grace McGhee won 6-1, 6-1 against Claire Vasek.

Kristina Abrams rallied past Charlie Miller at No. 4. After winning the first set 6-4, she found herself down 1-3 in the second set, but quickly turned her game around to win 6-4, 6-4. Sophia Bibbo also had a close match at No. 6, but prevailed, winning 7-6 (3), 6-4.

This win earns Virginia Wesleyan a spot in the ODAC Quarterfinals as the 8th seed. The women will face No. 1 seed Washington and Lee in Lexington, Virginia on Tuesday, April 25.
