The Virginia Wesleyan University women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a decisive 6-1 win over Randolph-Macon women's tennis, officially securing the No. 3 seed in the ODAC Championship Tournament. The Marlins earned the third seed via head-to-head tiebreaker and will host sixth-seeded Randolph-Macon in Wednesday's quarterfinal round.
Virginia Wesleyan took control early in doubles play, winning two of the three matches to build a 2-1 lead. At No. 2 doubles, Tuva Flink and Jette Hafermann delivered a dominant 6-1 victory, while at No. 3, Zoe Vliegen and Lexi Hackbirth matched that effort with another 6-1 win. Randolph Macon claimed the point at No. 1 doubles with a 6-4 decision.
In singles, the Marlins overwhelmed the Yellow Jackets by winning five of six matches in straight sets. Zoe Vliegen earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles, and Sarah Reich followed with a tightly contested 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 3. At No. 4, Jette Hafermann secured a 6-3, 6-1 victory, while Lexi Hackbirth was nearly flawless in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5. Jette Dammeier rounded out the scoring at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
Randolph Macon picked up its lone point at No. 1 singles, where Virginia Wesleyan pushed the match but ultimately fell 7-6, 7-5.
