VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Senior jumper on the track and field team
Geni Roberts was celebrated on Wednesday evening during halftime of the men's basketball game against No. 18 Hampden-Sydney with a banner hanging recognizing his two Runner Up finishes at the NCAA Championship Meet.
Senior
Geni Roberts finished as the National Runner Up at the NCAA National Championship Meets twice last season.
His first runner-up finish came in the men's long jump at the 2022 Indoor National Championship Meet on March 11, 2022. The Ridgely, Maryland native jumped a distance of 7.32 meters which was 6/100ths of a meter better than his previous personal-best (7.26M) at the time.
His second national runner up finish came in the men's triple jump at the 2022 Outdoor National Championship Meet on May 28, 2022. Roberts landed a mark of 15.16 meters jumping the ranks into second place. The 15.16 meter jump was 0.43 meters further than his career personal best, and school record, of 14.73 meters set at the 2021 NCAA Championship Meet in Greensboro, NC.
Roberts owns all four Virginia Wesleyan University Men's jumping records, both the indoor and outdoor long jumps and indoor and outdoor triple jumps. He has won all jump events at the ODAC Championships in which he has competed and advanced to the NCAA National Meet six-times at which he has claimed five All-American honors.
