Cameia Alexander was promoted to the Director of Men's & Women's Cross Country and Track and Field in December of 2021, and is in heading into her third season at the helm.
In the 2022-23 season, she had six athletes named to the USTFCCCA All-Region team and helped jumper Geni Roberts earn his eighth All-American honor with runner-up in the long jump at indoor nationals and a third-place finish in the triple jump at outdoor nationals. She led the team to nine ODAC Individual titles in 2022-23 between the indoor and outdoor seasons. The men's team finished fourth at the ODAC Indoor Championship Meet and fifth at the ODAC Outdoor Championship Meet, while the women's track and field squad came in sixth at the ODAC Indoor Championship Meet and seventh at the ODAC Outdoor Championship Meet.
Alexander joined the Marlins Athletic Department in August 2020 as the assistant director of the men's and women's cross country and track & field teams, working specifically with the Sprints, Jumps, & Hurdles.
In her first season as head coach, Alexander coached a trio of athletes to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Meets in Geni Roberts, Landry Moffo, and Jaylyn Lane. Under Alexander's guidance, Roberts claimed All-American honors three times, including a pair of National Runner Up finishes in long jump during the indoor season and triple jump for the outdoor season. In addition, four Marlins won a combined 11 ODAC Individual Titles in 2021-22 between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
During Alexander first season with the Marlins she helped aid the team to a fifth place finish on the men’s side and sixth place finish on the women’s side at the 2021 ODAC Outdoor Championship Meet. Alexander helped coach two 2021 NCAA Outdoor National qualifiers for the triple jump, with one earning All- American honors placing sixth, the highest male finisher in school history, while the second jumper placed eleventh. The 2021 Outdoor Season concluded with Alexander helping seven Marlins break school records and six earning podium finishes at the ODAC Outdoor Championship Meet.
Alexander previously spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach at Troy University where she worked primarily with the sprints and hurdles for the Trojans. While at Troy, Alexander recruited men's and women's jumpers, sprinters, and hurdlers, while also working closely with the Head Cross Country/ Assistant Distance Coach on proper techniques and postures for distance runners. She was a member of a coaching staff that saw 39 school records broken and produced 38 All-Sunbelt Honors in her four years at Troy. She also helped the Trojans with a Sunbelt Runner’s up place finish in the 2020 Indoor Season.
Alexander spearheaded the teams' Community Service and Team Fundraisers for the Trojans, while also serving as the teams' study hall monitor.
