The Virginia Wesleyan University track and field team had a record-breaking day at Duke and Bucknell.
Virginia Wesleyan saw a historic performance at the Bucknell meet as freshman Ester broke the school record in the 10,000 meters by a remarkable 2:52.63, finishing in 36:34.44 to set a new program benchmark and highlight the Marlins' strength in distance events.
The Marlins made a major impact on the track at Duke, led by Javon Hills, who set a personal record and new school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.29. Jasha Brewington added a solid performance in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking 15.07, while Lyric Hoggard ran 12.67 in the 100 meters. Jordan Hall contributed in the sprint events as well, posting a time of 22.49 in the 200 meters.
Virginia Wesleyan's 4x100 relay team of Da'Quan Smith, Jordan Hall, Javon Hills, and Jasha Brewington delivered one of the top performances in program history, recording a time that ranks fourth all-time.
The Marlins excelled in the field events, particularly in the triple jump, where Jordan Fielder recorded a personal-best 14.58 meters to move into second all-time in program history and rank sixth nationally. Da'Quan Smith also posted a personal best in the triple jump at 13.44 meters, tying for ninth all-time. In the long jump, Jordan Hall leaped 7.07 meters, while Smith added a mark of 6.11 meters.
In the throws, Zantia Durand led the way with a 28.73-meter effort in the javelin, adding another strong performance for Virginia Wesleyan in the field.
