SALEM, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball team fell to the Maroons of Roanoke College on Saturday afternoon in Salem, VA.
Adaje Williams led the team with 20 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Roanoke got off to an early lead opening the game on a 13 point run in the opening four minutes. Virginia Wesleyan in the final six minutes of the first quarter scored thirteen points five from
Adaje Williams, five from
Meadow Dyke, and three from
Jada Norman. At the end of the first quarter, the Maroons led 21-13.
The Marlins added ten points to their score in the second quarter with
Logan Carter adding three points and Williams scoring the remaining seven. VWU held RC to just 13 points as the teams entered the halftime break with the score sitting at 34-23.
Virginia Wesleyan's Williams scored the first six points of the third quarter pulling within five points, 34-29, but Roanoke went on a 7-2 run reclaiming a double-digit lead with the score sitting at 41-31. The Maroons lead grew to as many as 14 points, 47-33, but two final baskets from the Marlins put the score at a 10-point difference, 47-37, heading into the final quarter.
Roanoke pulled away in the fourth quarter adding 22 points to their total while holding Virginia Wesleyan to just seven points as the Maroons claimed the 69-44 win.
