FIRST HALF
- The two squads battled back and forth up the field for 43 minutes with both teams getting good looks but not finding the back of the goal.
- In the 44th minute with 1:17 remaining until halftime, the Marlins found the back of the net as junior Molly Gobble's shot bounced off the Sea Gull keeper's hand and into the back right corner of the goal. Alexis Miller passed the ball forward to Gobble who maintained control around the Sea Gull defender for the goal.
SECOND HALF
- The teams came out in the second half eager to score the next goal.
- Despite their efforts, and 14 shots, the Sea Gulls were kept off the scoreboard by the Marlins defense as VWU went on to win the match.
KEY STATS
- The Marlins' lone goal was scored by junior Molly Gobble.
- Gobble and freshman Shyenne Diaz led the team with two shots each.
- Keeper Rachel Quigley (W: 5-1-1) made 11 saves playing all 90 minutes between the pipes.
