Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer saw its postseason run come to a close on Saturday afternoon, falling 2–0 to Stevens in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Marlins (15–4–3) battled through a high-pressure, fast-paced matchup but were unable to find the finishing touch despite generating quality chances in both halves.
VWU opened with composure, trading early opportunities with the Ducks. Shyenne Diaz forced a save in the ninth minute, followed moments later by a shot from Zyon Ferguson that required another stop from Stevens' goalkeeper Kenny Donley.
Stevens capitalized on a corner kick sequence in the 15th minute. Angela Dinh collected a pass from Malia Chopra and sent a driven shot into the net at 14:43, giving the Ducks a 1–0 advantage. Virginia Wesleyan goalkeeper Allie Greco kept the Marlins within reach, registering five first-half saves, including key stops in the 29th and 35th minutes.
VWU continued pressing after halftime, generating three corner kicks and several promising looks. Kaylyn Seitz placed a shot on target in the 63rd minute, but Donley turned it away to preserve the lead.
Stevens extended its advantage in the 58th minute when Lauren Alley finished a feed from Hanna Kusinski, pushing the Ducks ahead 2–0. Despite the setback, the Marlins continued to battle, highlighted by a late strike from Lyla Wells that forced Donley's fourth save of the day.
