Box Score RALEIGH, NC. - The Marlins field hockey team defeated the Avenging Angels of Meredith College 2-0 on Friday evening in Raleigh, NC. Both Marlin goals came from the two seniors on the team Stephanie Hoke and Catherine Dozier.

FIRST HALF

• The Marlins controlled the pace of the first quarter taking three shots before finding their first goal of the contest just after the 12-minute mark as senior Stephanie Hoke connected with the back of the cage. 
• Virginia Wesleyan continued to stay hungry in the second quarter as VWU tallied seven shots before finding its second goal of the match this time off the stick of Catherine Dozier with about four minutes left in the half. The Marlins got off five more shots before the end of the second quarter as they took a 2-0 lead into the break. 

SECOND HALF

• The Marlins kept the Avenging Angels off the scoreboard in the third quarter as neither team scored in the third frame. 
• VWU came out in the final quarter taking seven shots with five penalty corners but could not find the back of the cage.  

KEY STATS

• Stephanie Hoke and Catherine Dozier each recorded a goal in the match. 
• The Marlins out shot the Avenging Angels 22-2 and 10-3 in penalty corners.
