The Virginia Wesleyan field hockey team (5-10, 2-5 ODAC) came up just short in a 1-0 defeat to Randolph-Macon (10-6, 4-3) on Wednesday evening in Virginia Beach.
The lone goal of the match came early, as Randolph-Macon scored in the 13th minute to give the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 advantage that held for the remainder of the contest. Despite the early setback, the Marlins responded with strong pressure on both sides of the ball.
