No. 2 Marlins Men's Tennis falls to No. 1 Washington & Lee in ODAC Championship Match

Box Score LEXINGTON, Virginia - The No. 2 seeded Virginia Wesleyan University men's tennis team fell to the No. 1 seeded Generals of Washington & Lee University 5-0 in the championship match of the 2022 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament. 

INSIDE THE SCORE
  • The Generals claimed the early lead winning all doubles matches heading into the singles round with a 3-0 lead.
  • Tim Tep and Cam Perry fell at No. 2 doubles 8-3 as the first doubles match to wrap up. 
  • Mitchell Perry and Felix Bevc were the next match to finish at No. 1 doubles. The Marlin duo fell 8-6 to Will Kistler and Eli Hirshberg of WLU. 
  • Henry West and Francis Cabaddu battled at the No. 3 spot taking the Generals duo to a tiebreaker. Ultimately the WLU pair won 8-7 (7-2).
  • Playing to a decision of five team points per ODAC Championship regulations, the Marlins needed to win five singles matches to clinch the match, whle WLU needed just two.
  • Cam Perry fell at No. 6 to James Kurani, 6-1, 6-2, putting the Generals one point away from the ODAC title. 
  • West, playing in the no. 5 spot, fell 6-0, 7-5 to Connor Coleman as Washington & Lee claimed their 39th ODAC Men's Tennis title. 
UP NEXT
The Marlins season comes to a close with an overall record of 13-8 and a 7-1 mark in conference. VWU returns to the court this fall for the 2022-23 season.
