Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina - The Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team defeated the Monarchs of Methodist University 5-4 in an match on Friday afternoon in Fayetteville, NC. The win is the first for the Marlins over the Monarchs since 2000.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
- Action began with the doubles teams going against each other with MU taking two of the three bouts.
- Felix Bevc and Mitchell Perry paired up at No. 1 doubles and 8-3 to Jordan Theron and Quinn McNamara of Methodist.
- Cam Perry and Tim Tep fell at No. 2 doubles in a closely contested match that went to a tiebreaker with the Monarchs pull off the win 8-7 (8-6).
- Francis Cabbadu and Henry West matched up at No. 3 doubles and claimed the only doubles match for VWU winning 8-4.
- Moving in to singles action, the Marlins claimed four of the six singles bouts to edge past the Monarchs and win the match 5-4.
- Bevc fell at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-2.
- Mitchell Perry won his match at No. 2 in a closely contested bout 7-5, 7-6 (10-3).
- Tep dropped his bout at No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-4.
- Cabaddu won at No. 4 singles 6-2, 7-6 (10-4), while West won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.
- Rounding up the action was Cam Perry who gave up two games in each set to win 6-2 .6-2, at No. 6.
