WASHINGTON D.C. - The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team defeated the Cardinals of Catholic University 6-3 on Saturday afternoon in the nation's capitol. 

INSIDE THE RESULTS

• Virginia Wesleyan took the early lead winning two of the three doubles matches. 
• Alexa Brewster and Christine Zalameda knocked off the No. 1 Cardinals pair 8-5 while Anna Rogers and Kaitlyn Totman fell at No. 2, 8-6. 
• Amanda Stegemann and Sophia Bibbo took the No. 3 set with an 8-5 win. 
• In the singles bouts, VWU won four of the six to take the match 6-3.
• Brewster fell to the Cardinals No. 1 7-5, 6-0, while Zalameda gave up just one game at the No. 2 flight winning 6-1, 6-0.
• Rogers won at No. 3 singles in three sets 3-6, 6-2, 10-5, with Stegemann falling at No. 4 singles in three sets 1-6, 6-1, 2-6.
• Kristina Abrams battled at No. 5 singles to win her bout 6-2, 6-1. 
• Maya Brown rounded out the action with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.
