Box Score ARLINGTON, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team defeated the Saints of Marymount University 7-2 in a Friday afternoon in Arlington, VA.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
- Virginia Wesleyan took the early lead winning two of the three doubles matches.
- Alexa Brewster and Anna Rogers knocked off the No. 1 Saints duo 8-1 while Christine Zalameda and Amanda Stegemann won at No. 2, 8-2.
- Maya Brown and Kristina Abrams took the No. 3 pair to a tie breaker set with the match score sitting at 7-7. The Saints duo got the best of the Marlins winning the tie breaker set 7-1.
- In the singles bouts, VWU won five of the six to take the match 7-2.
- Brewster won 6-2, 6-3 at the top stop, while Zalameda did not give up a game at the No. 2 flight winning 6-0, 6-0.
- Rogers won at No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-0, with Stegemann following with a win at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-4.
- Abrams battled at No. 5 singles with each player winning a set. In the tiebreak set, Abrams fell 10-6 for the only Saints win in singles.
- Kaitlyn Totman rounded out the action with a 6-1, 4-1 win at No. 6 singles.

The Marlins return to the court again tomorrow when they take on Catholic University in Washington D.C. at 12 PM. VWU will then play again on Sunday in their ODAC opener at home against Ferrum College.
