BRIDGEWATER, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball team fell to the Eagles of Bridgewater College 77-39 on Thursday evening in Bridgewater, VA.

INSIDE THE SCORE
Bridgewater controlled the game from the beginning getting off to a 6-0 start. The Marlins scored nine points throughout the opening quarter while the Eagles added 11 more points to their total taking a 17-9 lead into the second frame.
A 6-0 run for Virginia Wesleyan to start the second pulled the visitors within two points, 17-15, with 7:26 left in the half. Bridgewater took off from there on a 17 point rally putting the score at 34-15 with 2:45 on the clock. The Marlins added a pair of three pointers, one each from
Imani Simon and
Jada Norman, to round out their scoring in the second quarter as the score sat at 42-21 at the break.
The Eagles maintained a 20+ point advantage throughout the third and fourth quarters and ultimately defeated the Marlins by 38 points with the final score sitting at 77-39.
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN LEADERS
The Marlins were led by
Adaje Williams with 12 points while
Imani Simon added eight points of her own. Williams,
Nat Collier, and
Celeste Rucker all tallied five rebounds a piece.
BRIDGEWATER LEADERS
The Eagles were led by Jaden Alsberry with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Erika Nettles added 11 points while Noelle Horton contributed seven points and nine rebounds.
