HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a slow start out the gate for both the Marlins and Royals, until a layup by freshman Sariya Monroe put the Marlins on the board but Regent's own, Olivia Thompson connected a three-pointer soon after to put the Royals ahead on the board. The Marlins then went on an 8-0 run taking an eight-point lead, 11-3, with 4:21 on the clock. Regent tried to come back adding seven points but the Marlins held them off in the first quarter taking a 17-10 lead as time expired in the opening quarter.

The Marlins came back in the second quarter with Nat Collier punching a three-pointer in the first 30 seconds of the quarter (9:35). Points went back and forth between the Royals and the Marlins, with the Royals adding 11 points as well as the Marlins responding by adding 11 points of their own. The quarter ended with the Marlins leading 31-21 at halftime.

After the half, the Marlins came out with two good layups from Sariya Monroe and Nat Collier (8:56). This quarter was a lot like the second with the Marlins and Royals trading baskets back and forth, however, the Marlins were quick to respond as they began widening the gap, ending the third quarter with an 18-point lead on the Royals.

Both teams were holding back in the first minute of the fourth quarter until Adaje Williams put up two good layups within 30 seconds of each other, 51-29, but the Marlins were able to hold off the Royals until time ran out and close out the game with a 20-point lead over the Royals, 55-35.
