Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team defeated the WildCats from Randolph College in a 3-0 shutout on Saturday evening at the Tassos Paphites Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach, Va.
Molly Gobble,
Emma Acanfora, and
Victoria Gonzalez scored one goal each for the Marlins.

FIRST HALF
The Marlins struck early as they found the back of the net within the first seven minutes of play.
Alexis Miller played the ball in from the corner and found
Lexi Soteriou who headed the ball for a save.
Grayson Yeager got a shot in that was also saved, and junior
Molly Gobble corralled the rebound for a shot past the WildCat keeper into the back of the net for the first goal of the game. Virginia Wesleyan scored again in the 22nd minute as
Emma Acanfora flicked a pass from
Grace Engelbert into the back of the net putting VWU ahead 2-0. Not quite ten minutes later, VWU added a third goal on a penalty kick after a Randolph defender had a handball called inside the box.
Victoria Gonzalez took the shot and scored her first career goal giving the Marlins a 3-0 advantage.
SECOND HALF
The Marlins came out of the halftime break and held strong taking eleven shots while allowing the WildCats to get three shots off. Neither team managed to find the back of the net in the second 45-minute period.

Virginia Wesleyan is back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel up to the Richmond area to face rival the Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jackets. Kick-off between VWU and R-MC is set for 4:00 PM.
