Men's Tennis has strong showing at ITA Southeast Regionals

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Marlins Men's Tennis team had a strong showing at the ITA Southeast Regionals tournament hosted by Mary Washington University in Fredericksburg, Va., from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, 2022.  

Competing without their top competitors, the Marlins were represented by Camden Perry, Sai Challagundla, Hubert Parawa, Alen Curovic, and Jonas Jutz. The ITA Southeast Regionals is one of the premier Fall Season events and included participants from several nationally ranked programs in the country. 

Hubert Parawa, a junior transfer from Szczecin, Poland, led the way with 1-1 record in the Championship Singles draw. In the round of 64, Parawa defeated Keith Orr from Shenandoah University 4-6, 6-1, 10-6. Next, Parawa faced Christopher Newport University's No. 1 Alec Strause, coming up short 4-6, 3-6. 

In the Championship Doubles draw, the Marlins duo of Parawa and Jonas Jutz, fought hard, but ultimately lost both matches against teams from Gettysburg College and Franklin & Marshall University. 

In the B1 doubles draw, freshman Alen Curovic and sophomore Sai Challagundla went 1-1. They defeated Smialek and Johnson from Stevenson University 8-2, and battled Goncalves and Nurminen from Averett University to 4-8 score.
