Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The No. 25 Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team defeated the Royals of Eastern Mennonite University 3-0 on Saturday evening at Birdsong Field in Virginia Beach, Va.

FIRST HALF

• The teams started off the match sitting back getting a feel for each others offense and defense set ups. 
• Virginia Wesleyan did not wait long before they struck as Shyenne Diaz scored in the 13th minute to get the Marlins on the scoreboard first. Diaz's goal was assisted by Julia Marrone. 
• The teams went up and down the pitch for another 30 minutes before another goal was scored, this one off the foot of Grayson Yeager with an assist from Olivia Bryant. 
• VWU entered the intermission with a 2-0 lead and 20 shots to EMU's one. 

SECOND HALF

• After the break the teams settled into the second half, again getting a feel for the pace of play. 
• Thirty minutes into the second period, the Marlins scored their third goal of the game, this one a long ball in from Tyler Wheeler off a free kick that snuck past the keeper into the bottom corner for the goal. 
• Neither team scored the remainder of the match as VWU went on to win 3-0.

KEY STATS

• A trio of Marlins scored each of VWU's three goals in Shyenne Diaz, Grayson Yeager, and Tyler Wheeler. 
• Julia Marrone and Olivia Bryant recorded the assists on the first and second goals. 
• Diaz and Alexis Miller both tallied seven shots to lead the team, while Kayln Byrd added five and Yeager each took four.
• Keeper Rachel Quigley (W: 7-1-1, 2-0-0) made one save playing all 90 minutes between the pipes.
