SAINT MARY'S CITY, Maryland - The Virginia Wesleyan University field hockey team fell to the Seahawks of Saint Mary's College of Maryland on Wednesday afternoon at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium in Saint Mary's City, MD.

FIRST HALF

• Saint Mary's found the scoreboard first with a single goal later in the first quarter, 
• The Seahawks scored a second goal with about four minutes to go before halftime to go up 2-0, but Virginia Wesleyan found the back of the cage as Stephanie Hoke connected with a Lauren Hedspeth pass to score the Marlins only goal of the match.

SECOND HALF

• Just over two minutes into the third quarter, SMCM found a third goal taking a two goal lead, 3-1. 
• Three minutes later, the Seahawks struck again scoring their fourth goal of the match. 
• The last goal of the match came in the 48th minute in favor of St. Mary's who would end the game winning 5-1.

The field hockey team returns to action again on Thursday, Sept. 16, when they travel to Stevenson, MD, to face the Mustangs of Stevenson University. Game time is set for 6 PM and in a rescheduled game that was moved out of the path of Hurricane IDA at the beginning of the month.
